Eler Beth Clampett to the Rescue Again!

 NaBloPoMo Day Eleven


Yes, that IS what you think it is. It is a bat, lying on its back with a baby bat on its belly.  

It was on the sidewalk outside of Waffle House in Columbus a few nights ago when Eler Beth and Anthony were leaving. Using gloves (of course) Eler Beth wrapped it in a towel and put it inside a popcorn box to get it warm. Then momma bat flew off, leaving the baby. Eler Beth set the baby in a bush nearby, and in a little bit momma flew back and went to get baby. 

We assume mamma was in torpor since it was a bit chilly.

I LOVE bats!
